Turkish Journal of Family Practice is the official publication of the Turkish Association of Family Physicians (TAHUD) and has been published regularly four times a year since 1997. The journal is a reputable national and international publication that aims to enhance scientific knowledge in the field of primary healthcare services.
Turkish Journal of Family Practice serves as a comprehensive resource for family physicians, academicians, medical students, and other healthcare professionals working in primary care settings.
Aim & Scope
Turkish Journal of Family Practice aims to promote scientific advancements in the field of Family Medicine in Turkey and globally, fostering the exchange of knowledge in this area. The journal seeks to contribute to the dissemination of studies aimed at improving the quality of primary healthcare services, thereby enhancing public health.
Turkish Journal of Family Practice reaches family physicians working in hospital and community-based primary healthcare services, offering content that guides both clinical practice and academic research. In this context, the journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, and letters to the editor.
Publication Frequency
Turkish Journal of Family Practice is published quarterly. Issues are released in March, June, September, and December.
Publication Language
Beginning in 2025, the journal's language of publication will be exclusively English. Submission can only be submitted in English. Submitted manuscripts must comply with grammar and spelling rules and align with the relevant scientific literature.

Digital Archiving and Preservation
The content of Turkish Journal of Family Practice is archived through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides permanent archiving for academic journals. PKP PN utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program to ensure decentralized and distributed preservation of content. This program guarantees continuous access to the original and unaltered version of the journal, ensuring long-term access. Additionally, the full-text versions of all articles published in the journal are stored in PDF format at the National Library of Turkey.

Turkish Journal of Family Practice is an open access journal. All articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium or format, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors retain copyright of their published article. Open access ensures more reuse and citation, higher visibility and discoverability, greater engagement, immediate impact, increased interdisciplinary work and wider collaboration.
Turkish Journal of Family Practice adopts the Open Access Declaration published by the Budapest Open Access Initiative in February, 2002:
“By ‘open access’ to this [research] literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.
