Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate rabies-risk contact forms (Form 014) reported between 2011-2012 to Bursa Province Yıldırım Community Health Center.
Methods: The data were collected from 648 rabies-risk contact notification forms (Form 014) between 2011-2012. Data were analyzed using SPSS 10.5 package program. In the analysis, frequency and percantage from descriptive criteria were used.
Results: 71.3% of cases were men, 50,1% were between the ages of 0-19, 29,3% were over 40 years-old, 39,8% of cases occured in summer, 70,7% were bitten by dogs. 36,3% of bite cases were vaccinated 3 doses, 25.6% were vaccinated 5 doses. Disease status information section of Form 014 is the most incomplete section (15,7%). Sender Institution Information is the section which left incomplete the least (2,6%).
Conclusion: The most common cause of rabies-risk contact, which is an important public health problem, is stray dogs. Educational activities for the public, studies for the control of stray animals, keeping regular records of contact-risk cases, notifying the cases accurate, complete and in accordance with the regulations, eliminating the educational deficiencies of relevant staff may be helpful to reduce the rabies-risk contact.
